Speculaas Oatmeal
A deliciously warming bowl of hot oatmeal
Ingredients
- 1 bag of natural oatmeal (40g)
- 1 medjool date, pitted and chopped (you can replace this with 2 tsp maple syrup or honey)
- ½ - 1 tsp speculaas spices
- 180 ml vegetable milk of your choice
- For the topping: crumbled speculaas cookies and half a banana, sliced
Preparation
- Place all ingredients, except the topping, in a small saucepan.
- Mix everything well and bring to a gentle boil.
- Let the mixture simmer for 3 minutes, or until the desired consistency is reached. Stir regularly to prevent sticking.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add some extra vegetable milk if you want a thinner result.
- Scoop the oatmeal into a bowl and garnish with crumbled speculaas cookies and banana. Serve warm and enjoy!
Some advantages
Not only do we use up our supply of speculaas, this recipe is also incredibly tasty and nutritious!
- Filling and energy-rich : Oatmeal is an excellent source of complex carbohydrates and fiber. This ensures a long-lasting feeling of satiety, allowing you to get through the morning without feeling hungry.
- Speculaas spices for extra health : Speculaas spices, often a mix of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and ginger, are not only aromatic, but also contain antioxidants. Cinnamon, for example, helps to keep blood sugar levels stable.
- Natural Sweetness : The dates in this recipe provide a mild, natural sweetness without any added sugar. Dates are high in fiber, potassium, and iron – a great way to start your morning off right.
- Comfort Food for Cold Days : A warm breakfast like this speculaas oatmeal is perfect to warm up your body during the winter. Not only does it give a deliciously full feeling, but it also has a comforting effect thanks to the soft, spicy flavors.
